Application Administrator

Pearl Insurance, a national insurance broker and third party administrator, has an immediate opening for the following position:

The Application Administrator is responsible for support of various production application environments. Core responsibilities include diagnosis and resolution of problems in the production environment, internal customer communications, application configuration documentation, monitoring of the health of all applications and systems, planning and coordination of production system changes, participation in software upgrades and operations projects. Application Maintenance - 40% Application Projects - 35% Application Upgrades - 10% Project and System Documentation - 5% Learning/Training - 5% Miscellaneous (Administrative Tasks, etc.) - 5%

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures high availability, security and integrity of assigned applications.
  • Monitor applications, including setting alerts to maintain the stability of the environment and applications, and monitoring error logs. Troubleshoots or refer to appropriate IT department&#
  • Installs or coordinates installation of application patches and releases on development, test and production systems.
  • Ensures adherence to Service Level agreements regarding application availability.
  • Serves as a liaison to other IT departments and application vendors regarding installations, application maintenance, licensing and upgrade issues.
  • Serves as key person in troubleshooting system problems, taking ownership of problems to resolution.
  • Effectively manages communication between end users, vendors, and IT departments to solve production, development, and test environment problems quickly.
  • Maintains current description and documentation of application configuration, including tracking and documenting any changes to environments.
  • Assists in capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning, and data assurance on assigned systems.
  • Participates in disaster recovery planning.
  • Analyzes performance trends to optimize application performance.
  • Ensures reporting of downtime on production environment.
  • Effectively track time spent on projects and service work.
  • Ability to clearly document problems, procedures, and newly acquired knowledge and use this documentation when performing duties.
  • Ability to work individually or in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, multi task and complete assigned tasks within a fast paced, time-sensitive environment.
Qualifications
  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years prior experience as an Application Administrator or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends.
