Primary objective for this role is to provide level II support for all managed services clients, as well as proactive service delivery for all server and network systems.
This role is responsible for ensuring client satisfaction in every step of problem resolution. Systems Engineers are required to track detailed information regarding each client’s service request in an on-line ticketing application and client knowledge base.
This full-time position is a technical support and proactive service delivery role working with an integrated team of Help Desk technicians, Systems Engineers and IT Managers. Working within this team approach is critical to the success of this position and communication between and across teams is critical to providing the client with a superior service.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond to Level II support issues within agreed service levels
- Follow procedures for providing proactive service delivery, including application server patches, data backups, network configuration and security changes
- Interface with clients as necessary
- Create procedures that document best practices when working with particular software/hardware/network tools or troubleshooting issues
- Follow escalation points for specific problems
- Work with monitoring applications and suggest improvements to monitoring and reporting systems as appropriate
Qualifications
- BA/BS from a 4 year college or university in Computer Science or other related field preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
- Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) or equivalent
- 3+ years supporting Spyware and Antivirus software
- 3+ years supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003
- 2+ years supporting Microsoft Exchange Server 2000/2003
- 2+ years supporting Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005
- 2+ years experience working with server and network monitoring applications
- 2+ years supporting network routers/firewalls/vpn concentrators
